Annapolis Royal Pride exists to promote the right to equality, freedom and safety for two-spirited, lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, intersex, non-binary and questioning people - essentially, anyone who doesn’t conform to or find themselves represented by heterosexual normative society. We believe that love is love, meaning that nothing should stop consensual loving relationships from existing, regardless of the gender identities and sexual orientations involved. We place our work in the context of generations of effort to be recognized, respected and valued as complete and accepted members of society. We actively work to understand the origins of fear and hatred and the possibility of forgiveness and transformation for all people into their most authentic selves. We also take an intersectional lens and work to understand how different forms of oppression and liberation are connected.
